Purifiedlactadherinfunctionsasananticoagulantbyblockingphosphatidylserine-containingmembranesitesforbloodcoagulationproteins(10).Fluoresence-labeledlactadherinfunctionsasasensitiveprobeforexposedphosphatidylserineonnucleatedcellsandonstimulatedplatelets(8,9).LactadherinwillbindtomembranesthathavephosphatidylserinecontentbelowthethresholdforannexinVbinding.
